A Post-Medieval copper-alloy livery button, dating to AD 1820 - 1900. It measures 16.4mm in diameter and is slightly convex with a soldered copper wire loop at the rear. The design on the front is of a bird, probably a thrush, facing left and standing on a snail, with a snail or worm hanging from its mouth. Beneath the snail is a raised rope line and under this there appears to be lettering, possibly a motto. The motif is enclosed within a raised circle. There is evidence of gilding. The back is marked with SUPER FINE [FIRST] QUALITY encircling the loop.
