A fragment of a copper alloy Iron Age/Roman cosmetic mortar dating to 100 BC-AD 300. The fabric of the mortar is dark brownish-red suggesting a high iron content. The mortar is incomplete and is very worn. The fragment comprises a small part of the end-loop (which is not complete) which was positioned at the end beneath the terminal. All that remains of the loop is a small point beneath the mortar and a short downwards curving truncated point at the end of the mortar.
