A copper alloy 'Chichester Cock' bronze unit of the Regini (or Atrebates) dating to the period BC 65-45. Obverse depicts a helmeted head. Reverse depicts a small bearded head surmounted by a cock possibly holding a snake in its beak. "These coins are copied from Gaulish types. Chichester Cock bronze units constitute a very large coinage of the mid 1st century BC. .. they are the only bronze coins issued in the Southern Region .. they feature an anthropomorphic cockerel, a genre of grotesque fantasy beasts know as grylloi which date from the 5th century BC."
