A glass Roman gaming counter dating to the period c. AD 43 - 410. The counter is oval in shape and convex. The reverse is slightly dished. The counter is a very dark opaque blue/black colour. The underside of the gaming counter exhibits a number of air holes from the manufacture process. Similar pieces have been found at Silchester, and Colchester and are discussed in Crummy, N, 1983, Colchester Archaeological Report 2, p.92 - 93, fig. 95. A post medieval glass bottle seal dating to the period c. AD 1700 - 1800. The seal is oval in shape and depicts the intials A : E / K with an eight pointed star next to the K. The seal itself is intact, however, the edges of the bottle to whcih is was attached all terminate in breaks. The glass is green and semi-translucent in colour. The object measures 55.37mm in length, 43.36mm in width, is 10.86mm thick and weighs 31.26g.

A glass fragment from the handle of a Roman flagon dating to the period c. AD 43 - 410. The glass is a translucent turquoise colour and has several large air bubbles in it. The surviving edge of the handle has been rolled upwards and there are s a series of longitudinal ridges visible running down the surviving length of the body. The sherd is iregularly shaped and exhibits a series of breaks. The breaks appear to be relatively fresh, with little sign of wear. The fragment measures 42.23mm in length, 29.14mm maximum width, 6.22mm minimum width, is 8.25mm thick adn weighs 7.50g. …

An incomplete post medieval glass bottle dating to the period c. AD 1750 - 1850. The bottle consists of the collar, the neck and a small portion of the shoulders. The collar is irregularly shpaed and has been rolled over and pinched to form an irregular triangular cross-section. The neck of the bottle exhibits a series of diagonal striations in the glass which would have been caused during the manufacturing process. A glass Roman gaming counter dating to the period c. AD 43 - 410. The counter is oval in shape and convex. The reverse is slightly dished. The counter is a very dark opaque blue/black and features a central inset spot of red glass surrounded by three irregularly sized spots of white glass on the upper face. A glass Roman intaglio dating to the period c. AD 43 - 410. The intaglio is oval in shape and features a design which Martin Henig has posited depicts a horse running or flying left with a human figure which may be swimming below (pers.comms.). The intaglio is made from blue glass and has a slightly matte surface and is shiny where there is more recent damage. Martin Henig (pers. comms.) has commented that the intaglio appears to be moulded rather than cut. The design of a horse running is not uncommon and is often accompanied by a human figure. An incomplete probably early medieval glass spindle whorl dating to the period c. AD 410 - 1066. The spindle whorl is circular in plan and broadly D-shaped in cross-section with a hole through the middle. The glass is opaque in colour. The spindle whorl is of uneven thickness with a maximum thickness of 12.67mm and a minimum thickness of 9.12mm. The band width is also uneven with a maximum width of 14.38mm and a minimum width of 12.31mm. The areas of maximum band width are also the areas where the band is thickest.
