Copper alloy shilling from the reign of Charles I (AD1625-1649), Spink no.3147/8. The reverse is worn but it is probably a Pontefract besieged shilling (AD1648-9) with the edges worn away so the coin is no circular. The obverse depicts the large initials 'C.R' below a crown. The inscription is worn: [IRO]. The reverse is very worn but may depict a castle, with the number '2' visible at the bottom.

Obverse is worn but presumably depicts a crowned bust facing left. Obverse inscription:[ELIZAB D G ANG FR ET] HIB REG [I]. Reverse depicts a square topped shield on long cross fourchee dividing the legend. Reverse inscription: [PO] SVI DEV ADIVTORE[M MEU].
