Record ID: NCL-BD1671
Object type: BROOCH
Broad period: ROMAN
County: East Riding of Yorkshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A cast copper-alloy trumpet brooch of the Roman period, c.75-200.
The brooch is largely complete, missing the foot, the catchplate, and the shaft of the spring-pin. The spring of the pin remains fixed on the reverse of the head, but there is no evidence for a head loop. The peak of the bow has moulded acanthus leaf decoration in full round. The brooch is very worn and corroded, obscuring much of the detail.
