The head is formed of a two-coil spring, one of which would have formed the pin, although this has broken and is now absent. The bow is a flattened extention of one end of the spring and there is a ridge down the outside. In plan, the sides of the bow flare for a short distance and then gradually taper towards the catch-plate. The catch-plate is misshapen and un-perforated. This brooch has a patchy dark green patina.
