Fragment of a cast copper alloy brooch. The brooch is T-shaped and dates to the early Roman period, circa AD60-100. Only the wings and a hook (which would have originally retained the spring) remain. The hook is bent out of shape. The damage is not new. The wings are semi-cylindrical with a concave underside that would have held the absent spring pin. The wings are undecorated. The surface of the brooch is heavily worn and patinated. From end to end of the wings - which would have been the width of the complete brooch - is 17.97mm. An incomplete, copper alloy late Iron Age to early Roman Colchester brooch, circa 25-65 AD. The spring, bow, catch plate and tip of the foot are missing due to old damage. The head of the brooch has wings with a short, flat-sided crossbar with two hooks. The upper hook is rearward facing, creating a tear-drop shaped aperture with the top of the bow. A complete cast copper alloy Medieval harness pendant, dating circa AD 1175 - 1400. The pendant is circular with a wedge-shaped suspension loop which protrudes upwards and is orientated at 45 degrees to the pendant. Where the loop meets the body of the pendant, the width is 7.06mm and the sides taper together to form a rounded terminal. However, the uneven top edge of the thimble suggests that this is a closed thimble with the top missing due to old damage. The base rim is ragged and misshaped.
