A contemporary forgery of a medieval penny of Henry III (1216-1272). A copper alloy coin with traces of a silver wash surviving. The forgery is probably based on a Class III coin. The obverse shows a crowned, forward facing bust. In relation to the face, the initial mark is located at 11 o'clock and the lombardic 'h' is located at 12 o'clock. Only the beginning and end of the obverse legend is discernable - hEN _______III - as most of the legend is either worn or off-flan.
