A copper alloy nummus of Gratian, dating to the period AD367-75 (Reece Period 19). GLORIA NOVI SAECVLI reverse type depicting the emperor standing facing holding labarum and shield. The condition of the nummus is poor but coins of this type were only for Gratian and only minted at Arles. Obverse shows a diademed bust right. Obverse legend: D N GRATIANVS AVGG AVG. See RIC vol IX, page 66, no 15. Diameter: 17.65mm. Thickness: 1.74mm. Weight: 2.1g. Die axis: 12 o'clock.
