The pin is missing; remnants of the hinge and catchplate survive, and there is circumferential loss to the plate - approximately 95% of the plate survives. The damage is not new. The pipe bowl is comparable to David Atkinson's Broseley Type 1B (Atkinson:1975, p24, fig 1). The overall shape of the bowl is elongated with a bulge at the centre. The bowl has a circular flat heel with a stamped initial mark. The initial mark is circular with lines radiating from the centre.
