Description: An incomplete cast gilded silver mount of Anglo-Saxon date in the form of a stylised animal head. The head has a high domed brow, divided into two fields by a raised line. Within each field is an eye formed from a round pellet attached to a comma-shaped field outlined by an incised line and ending in a downward-spiralling scroll which may represent an ear. In front of the eyes is a low broad semi-circular snout.
