A complete silver decorative mount, possibly for a book cover or box, of probable modern date, post 1750. The mount is made from sheet silver. It has an irregular shape in plan view, possibly representing two superimposed capital letters. Due to the highly stylized openwork design of the mount, it is uncertain if the design represents an 'H', 'E', 'I' or 'U' possibly referring to the owner's initials. An incomplete, cast copper alloy mount probably Post Medieval to Modern in date. The precise function of the mount is unclear although it is possibly from a piece of furniture. In plan view the mount comprises of a central triangular-shaped plate with openwork decoration below. The openwork decoration was clearly always asymmetrical although not all of the openwork survives. The damage is not new. In the centre of the triangular plate is a sub-square recessed field.
