A cast lead alloy trade weight, of uncertain date but probably from the Medieval to Post Medieval periods, circa 1250 - 1700. The weight is sub-square in plan view with rounded corners and trapezoidal in section. The reverse of the weight is flat and undecorated with some surface wear. The sides of the weight slope inwards to a flat, sub-square face with a mounded, raised, central cross creating four recessed fields of roughly equal size. A complete cast lead or lead alloy spindle whorl probably dating to the Medieval period. The object is sub-circular in plan with a domed upper face and a flat rear face. At the centre, a vertical circular perforation has an internal diameter of approximately 10.3mm. The upper face is decorated with four raised lines radiating from the centre with a raised pellet in each compartment. The flat rear face is undecorated.
