An incomplete copper alloy strap fitting, probably a sword belt hanger, of Post Medieval date, circa AD1500-1700. The hanger is irregular in plan with a tri-lobed top. The centre of the object narrows, and then it widens out again at the bottom. The bottom edge of the hanger terminates in an old break. Originally, an integrally cast suspension loop would have projected from the right hand side of the object. The loop is now missing due to an old break. The reverse of the head is hollow with an integral square-sectioned shank protruding from the centre. The shank, which is bent, tapers to a blunt point. The mount plate is sub-rectangular in plan with rounded corners and D-shaped in section. On the reverse of the mount is a sub triangular rivet at either end. A small sherd from a Post Medieval (AD1600-1700) stoneware jug, probably a German Belamine jug. Part of the design border is present but too little survives to identify the design any further. The outer surface is covered in an iron-rich salt glaze producing a textured mottled brown effect. The fabric is hard fired and light grey in colour.
