A fragment from a cast copper alloy Early Medieval brooch, circa AD 400-600. The fragment is from an Early Anglo Saxon saucer brooch. The brooch has an irregular shape in plan with a surviving brooch circumference and 3 broken and abraded edges. The fragment is contorted with the area of the plate next to the pin lug forming a humped profile. The upper face is very worn with a double-ribbed interlace design within a plain border on both sides just discernable. The reverse is plain with an integrally cast lug surviving. The lug is rounded. A fragment from a cast copper alloy Early Medieval brooch, circa AD 400-600. The fragment is from an Early Anglo Saxon saucer brooch. The brooch has an irregular shape in plan with all edges being broken and abraded. Owing to the presence of the pin lug, the fragment is clearly from the outer edge of the brooch with a small section of the brooch circumference surviving. The upper surface has a double-ribbed, high relief interlace design within a plain, raised border on both sides.
