A silver hammered penny of Alexander III (1249 - 1286). This coin dates from 1280 - 1286 and is from the second coinage, Class Mb. Mint not known (see below). Obverse shows a bust in profile facing left with a sceptre. Obverse legend reads ALEXANDER DEI GRA. The initial cross is of the type described by North, J.J. 1991, Vol.II p.26 fig.15 as 'normal'.
