A complete cast copper alloy horse harness pendant dating to the Medieval period, circa AD1200-1400. In plan, the body of the pendant is lozenge-shaped with a lug projecting from each side. Each lug bears 3 moulded radial grooves creating a trefoil projection. The harness pendant has an irregular section. At the centre of the pendant is a red enamel cross pattee. The slightly uneven surface surrounding the cross suggests that more enamelling existed but has not survived. Traces of gold are present on the reverse indicating that the pendant had been gilded by dipping the entire object.…

A complete cast copper alloy horse harness pendant dating to the Medieval period, circa AD1200-1400. In plan, the body of the pendant is square and on each side of the square a narrowed neck leads to a round lobe forming an overall cruciform shape. Each lobe is D-shape in section and the square body of the pendant is sub-rectangular in section. The reverse of the pendant is flat. A complete cast copper alloy Medieval harness pendant, dating circa AD 1175 - 1400. The pendant is circular with a wedge-shaped suspension loop which protrudes upwards and is orientated at 45 degrees to the pendant. Where the loop meets the body of the pendant, the width is 7.06mm and the sides taper together to form a rounded terminal. The suspension loop has a circular perforation with an approximate diameter of 1.74mm. The edges of the body of the pendant are a little ragged. A complete cast copper alloy medieval horse-harness pendant. The pendant has a circular plate which originally would have been flat in cross-section, but is now folded back on the right side. The damage is not new. The maximum diameter of the circular plate is 21.98mm. The front face of the pendant is heavily corroded but evidence of moulded decoration remains. The centre of the plate has a recessed, sub-square field which has remains of a red pigmentation. The central field is surrounded by a decoration of raised petals.
