A fragment from a cast copper alloy Early Medieval brooch, circa AD 400-600. The fragment is from an Early Anglo Saxon saucer brooch. The brooch has an irregular shape in plan with a surviving brooch circumference and 3 broken and abraded edges. The fragment is contorted with the area of the plate next to the pin lug forming a humped profile. The upper face is very worn with a double-ribbed interlace design within a plain border on both sides just discernable. The reverse is plain with an integrally cast lug surviving. The lug is rounded. An incomplete cast copper alloy Early Medieval strap end dating to the late Anglo-Saxon period, circa 9th century AD. The strap end is sub oval in plan with narrowed, rounded ends. Originally, the strap end would have divided at the widest point to form a back plate, creating a 'V' shaped profile. The back plate is missing due to old breaks. An incomplete copper-alloy girdle-hanger, of early Anglo-Saxon date (c. AD 450 to c. AD 570) The artefact is made from a copper-alloy sheet which has been cut to shape; it is flat (although a little irregular) and 'T'-shaped. The base is longer on the outside than the inside, resulting in sharply angled corners. The shaft is straight, with worn rounded breaks; old breaks are present on the inside edge of the cross bar, preserving tiny stubs of the wards. Both faces are undecorated. From a central boss, which is sub square in plan view with a convex face, extends two arms which are plano convex in section. Both arms have lozenge-shaped terminals with a large openwork oval. A cast copper alloy knife or sword fitting of probable 11th century date. The fitting is broadly formed from a circular hoop with a cross projecting from one edge of the hoop and a sub-square form projecting for the opposing edge of the hoop.
