Object type: BARBED AND TANGED ARROWHEAD
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: West Sussex
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A nearly complete barbed and tanged flint arrowhead dating from the Late Neolithic to Bronze Age (c. 2500-1500 BC). The arrowhead is sub-triangular in plan and has been bifacially worked, with covering pressure flake removals evident on both ventral and dorsal faces, and retouch on the sharpened outer edges of the implement. Two small sub-triangular notches are visible between the central rectangular tang and the barbs; one of the barbs has broken short of its intended length. It has a dark grey even colour overall.

Object type: POLISHED AXEHEAD
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: East Sussex
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A nearly complete polished Neolithic stone axehead (c.3500 - 2351 BC). The axe is an elongated piriform shape in plan with a crescentic cutting edge, and an elliptical profile. It has been finely polished overall but has suffered later modification resulting in a fractured and uneven surface; the butt of the axe has a moderate removal, with extensive removals on both surfaces of the axe at the crescentic cutting edge. Additional moderate retouch is visible along the mesial edges of one surface. The axe has a fine light grey to white colour overall.
The axe measures 146.8mm in lengt…

Object type: SCRAPER (TOOL)
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: West Sussex
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A knapped flint scraper, probably dating to either the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age (c. 2500 BC-1500 BC). The lithic implement is discoidal with a broadly trapezoidal cross-section. The scraper retains a bulb of percussion and small ripples of retouch on the ventral face, whilst the dorsal face has significant small retouch and shaping at the distal end. Moderate cortex remains at the two mesial edges of the dorsal face, perhaps to facilitate an individual's grip. The flint material itself is of a medium grey colour, with some natural white inclusions. It measures 32.3mm by 33.9…

Object type: ARROWHEAD
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: West Sussex
Workflow stage: Published
An incomplete leaf-shaped knapped flint arrowhead of probable early Neolithic date (c. 3500-2100 BC). It is unpatinated and struck from a grey/brown flint. It is sub-oval in plan, and narrows unevenly at the proximal end, whilst also tapering to a blunted point at the distal end. The edges have irregular retouch and nibbling, with additional losses towards the distal end. Both surfaces have considerable flaking scars.
