An incomplete post-medieval gilded copper-alloy mount, probably dating from the 16th to 17th century . The mount comprises a thin sheet moulded in the form of a six-pointed star, possibly intended to represent a rowel from a spur. One of these six points is missing and the object has been bent back on itself in a straight line down the middle, giving the appearance of half a star. The arms of the star are chevron in cross-section, raised and pointed on the front and concave to the reverse, and there are significant traces of gilding on the front surface. This object is formed from a circular in plan ring with a central quatrefoil aperture, and is sub-oval to sub-rectangular in section.
