Post medieval copper alloy dagger guard, probably of 18th century date The guard is fragmentary, missing both the arms (with a surviving length of 38.7mm and a weight of 15.2g). The arms were of twisted form and of rectangular section (6mm x 4mm). The central section is oval (19.2mm wide, 23mm long and 6.7mm thick) with a rectangular opening to accommodate the blade (11.6mm x 7.1mm). Traces of gilding survive over some of the surface but much of the applied decoration has been lost. Little survives of the original surface and is now pale brown to pale green.
