Medieval copper alloy harness pendant, probably of later 12th to 14th century date
The pendant is complete but corroded and is missing the suspension mount (with a length of 37.1mm and weight of 5.5g). The suspension lug is sub-oval (7.4mm wide and 9.6mm high) with an oval perforation (2.9mm x 2.3mm). The pendant is sub-circular (27 - 28mm in diameter). The surface has been lost from the pendant but remnants survive comprising a border of separate circular rings. Five additional rings within the pendant may have defined a cross. Traces of gilding survive near the apex but elsewhere …

The harness pendant is of two-part form, comprising a frame and swivelling pendant and is near-complete, missing the suspension mount (with a length of 44.0mm and a weight of 16.2g). The suspension mount was hinged through a lug (2.8mm thick 6.6mm wide) with a central perforation (2.9mm diameter). The sexfoil frame (with a width of 29.2mm) is open and each of the six lobes is separated with a raised rib, which projects towards the centre (leaving a gap of 8.6mm). The inner pendant remains in place and swiv…

Medieval copper alloy harness pendant, probably of 13th or 14th century date
The pendant is near complete with some peripheral damage and surface loss (with an overall length of 43.9mm and a weight of 6.0g). The suspension loop (6.9mm deep and 1-2mm thick) is perpendicular to the pendant and has a circular perforation (2.3mm diameter). The pendant is of lozenge form (36mm long and 31.4mm wide) and the detail on the pendant is now difficult to discern. There appears to have been a central device, probably a letter 'E' in Lombardic script in relief at the centre. A smaller possible l…
