Medieval copper alloy buckle, probably of 13th or 14th century date The buckle is incomplete (with a surviving length of 25.1mm and a weight of 2.7g) and may be of integral plate type or of two looped type with integral pate. The loop is oval (21.8mm wide) and of sub-triangular section. There is a single decorative moulding where the frame meets the plate. The pin is accommodated within a hole through the plate. The plate is of trapezoidal section (9.7mm wide and 2.4mm thick), with bevelled sides. The buckle plate has broken through a hole (5mm diameter) for attachment to the strap.…
