Triangular shaped piece of light grey coloured flint. The dorsal face exhibits a prominent medial ridge which terminates at the centre of the piece. The proximal edge appears straight, possibly having been snapped off. He right margin appears to have been subject to micro retouch along its edge, possible denticulates, which stop at the point of distal edge. The left margin is divided by two edges, one partially broken and uneven in appearance the second more narrow in appearance. The ventral face is smooth in appearance with only the bottom of the right margin appearing to have been d…

County: Cornwall
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Elongated piece of translucent light brown coloured flint with a cream inclusion. Te dorsal face exhibits a single medial ridge running from the proximal to distal edges. The distal edge terminates as a point, with both sides appearing to have been struck, to produce the point. The ventral face is smooth in appearance with no obvious indication of retouch around it edges. This piece could be described as a failed burin, piercer, or tanged tool. Very small but indeterminate tool.

Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Cornwall
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Rectangular shaped piece of mid grey coloured flint. The proximal edge appears abraded and uneven, the distal edge is also uneven but this could be due to a fault within the material on the left side of the edge. The left and right margins are blade like in appearance and could have been utilised as such. The dorsal face is typical in appearance of a piece of material having been removed from a core side. Exhibiting several negative scars on the face. The ventral face is relatively smooth in appearance and texture, a bulb of percussion is still present at the proximal end with some co…

Object type: LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Broad period: MESOLITHIC
County: Cornwall
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Oval piece of flint which has been subject to intense heat, the dorsal face retains approximately 30% cortex covering which is reddish in colour, probably as a result of heat exposure. The flint itself is two tone grey in colour and exhibits faults and fractures throughout its surface. The cortex is smooth to the touch and typical of material associated with beach pebbles. The edges are ragged and uneven, no obvious indication of retouch along any edge although this could be hidden due to the damage caused by the exposure to intense heat. The ventral face is smooth in appearance a…

Translucent grey coloured piece of flint, plano convex in profile. This piece originated from a core, which was then converted from a flake into what appears to be a serrated blade. The proximal edge appears straight and untouched, while the right and left margins, certainly the left margin has been subject to light retouch along its edge, the right margin isn't so obvious. The upper part of the right margin and distal edge appears flat in profile and may have been broken off the edge is dull implying an older break. The left side of the distal edge terminates into point on its joinin…

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Oval piece of dark grey coloured flint with off white inclusions. The dorsal face exhibits several ridges with negative scars, distal edge appears rounded and may have been deliberately manufactured. The right margin is more blunt than the left and could be classed as having been backed, there does appear to be evidence of retouch but it is slight. The left margin is more shallow and sharp in appearance. The proximal edge has been broken implying this implement was much larger. The ventral face is smooth in appearance and texture, some conchoidal rippling present in the surface. Possi…

The proximal edge appears broken and uneven, with the right margin curving gentle out toward the medial then back in terminating to a point at the distal edge. Possible serration marks on the edge of the margin, but these are very small and slight. The left margin appears to reflect the right margin in is convex appearance, although there doesn't appear to be any retouch marks along its length. The ventral face is divided between an u…

Irregular ovoid shaped piece of translucent brown coloured flint, with 20% cortex remaining on its surface. The right margin and two thirds of the distal edge are blade like in appearance, with no indication of obvious retouch marks on the edges. The centre of the dorsal face appears to have been struck previously, possibly when it was part of a core. The ventral face is smoot…
