A copper-alloy frame from a post-Medieval single-loop buckle. The frame is sub-rectangular in plan, having a rounded outer end with projecting central pin rest, inward-bowing horizontal sides and an offset axis bar, missing its pin. Length: 26.6mm, width: 23.4mm, thickness: 2.6mm, weight: 1.9g. Date: c.1500-1650.

An almost complete cast copper-alloy double-loop sub-annular buckle, c. 1620-1720. The angled upper surface of the oval frame is decorated with multiple transverse grooves. The axis bar is located centrally and retains the encrusted loop of the iron pin. Length: 23.1mm, width: 17.9mm, thickness: 3.2mm, weight: 2.4g.

Just under half of a post-Medieval double-loop shoe buckle, c. 1620-1720. The surviving piece indicates that the frame was originally sub-rectangular in plan, with a central axis bar. A corroded fragment of this iron axis bar survives, contained within a drilled hole in the frame. The intact end is rounded and the frame widens to form a central pin rest. Length: 38.6mm, width: 37.2mm, thickness: 5.5mm, weight: 7.6g.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy double-loop buckle, c. 1600-1680. The surviving side of the frame is sub-trapezoidal in plan and of flat section. At the outer end there is a sub-triangular pin rest with transverse pin groove; a pair of angled corner lobes flank this pin rest. The frame has a white metal coating. . Length: 20.8mm, width: 205.34mm, thickness: 2.51mm, weight: 2.1g.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy double-loop buckle, c.1620-1720. The sub-rectangular frame has two drilled opposing holes in which the now-missing central axis bar would have been contained. There is a moulded collar on each side of these holes, and a moulded, leaf-like pin rest at the centre of the rounded right- and left-hand ends of the frame. Length: 34.75mm, width: 20.91mm, thickness: 2.29mm, weight: 4.3g.

Single looped buckles were the most common types during the 13th and 14th centuries but were gradually replaced by double looped buckles from the 15th century. The pin is missing.
