A sherd from the side of a large, Roman greyware vessel, possibly a storage jar, dating from AD100-400. The fabric is a light grey in colour and of a coarse, gritty material. There are quartz inclusions, including a few large pebbles. The fabric is fairly soft and has an irregular texture. On the outer side of the sherd is part of a simple design consisting of a horizontal groove with four vertical grooves depending from it at equidistant intervals. One arm from a cast copper alloy, late medieval purse bar dating from 1450-1550. It is circular in cross-section, with an integral, flat rectangular plate on one side. This plate has two circular perforations, one at each end. At the end of the arm is a narrow, circular neck and a circular terminal which flares slightly towards the outer end, which is domed. A large fragment (approximately two thirds) of a lead-alloy pilgrim's ampulla, possibly of the late 15th or early 16th century. One side is decorated with a scallop shell design, the other side is plain. It has a narrow neck and the suspension loops, which were probably higher up the neck, are missing, as is the top of the neck itself.
