A cast lead spindle whorl of Walton Rogers form B2 probably dating from the Early Medieval period, about AD 700 - 850. It has two flat faces of the same size, and curved sides.  It is 25.4mm in diameter and 13.7mm thick with a central perforation of internal diameter 6mm. It weighs 44.7g. Walton Rogers suggests that form B2 whorls appear in York in the 700s, and a central diameter of 6-9mm suggests a date in the early to mid Saxon period.

A decorated, lead spindle whorl of Walton Rogers form A1 dating from the Early Medieval period, about  AD 500 - 850. It has one flat face and one shallowly domed face with vertical sides. The domed face is decorated with 9 grooves or incuse pseudo runes. Most of the marks are radiating grooves, but there are also two X shaped marks, and some of the single lines have possible faint cross strokes. It is 28.3mm in diameter and 10.1mm thick with a central perforation of internal diameter 8.4mm. It weighs 39.7g.

A fragment of a copper alloy purse frame of Medieval to Post Medieval date, AD 1440 - 1620. Just a short length of the frame survives. It is L shaped in cross-section and decorated on the external face with wide cross hatched double incised lines. It was probably originally inlaid with niello. This is characteristic of Class A1 purse frames. It is 36.5mm long, 7.7mm wide and 5mm thick. It weighs 6.3g. See fig 3 in Williams (2018) Finds Research Group Datasheet 50.

An incomplete, copper alloy buckle plate of Medieval date, about AD 1200 - 1300. It is part of the front plate and is made of sheet copper alloy. There is a border of a double line of punched triangles, each one wide and short. There are two empty rivet holes near the attachment end. The end that would have been folded round the frame is missing, and there is a severe crease across the middle of the plate too. It is 26.9mm long, 20.2mm wide and 0.4mm thick. It weighs 1.6g. A similar example is number 502 on page 111 of Egan and Pritchard (1998) which is from a context of AD 1230 - 1260.

A fragment of slate tablet, or writing slate of late Post medieval to modern, date, about AD 1850 - 1950.  The fragment has a chapfered edge, probably indicating it was made in a factory and designed to have a wooden frame applied to the edge. Frames are thought to have been routinely added to slates from the mid 19th century (Shaffrey, 2022, Finds Reserach Group Datasheet 56). The slate is also marked with guidelines. A copper alloy strap end of Medieval date, about AD 1200 - 1400. It is a two piece strap end, made of two sheets of copper alloy, riveted together at each end. It is sub-rectangular with an expanded and rounded closed end, terminating is a flat rounded knop. There is a single rivet at each end, flush with both plates. They look like copper alloy, but give a faint magnetic response. The plate is not decorated bu there are file marks visible. It is 30mm long, 12.2mm wide and 2.9mm thick. It weighs 3.6g.

A fragment of a large, copper alloy spherical bell of post-Medieval date, probably AD 1600 - 1700. Only part of the top hemisphere and the attachment loop survives. The loop is rectangular externally, and arched internally, suggesting it was case as a loop. There are traces of a radiating petal pattern (sunburst) on the upper hemisphere, suggesting a 17th century date. A small length of the median rib survives, but the rest of the bell is missing. A fragment of an openwork post-Medieval decorative strap mount, in the baroque style (see Maslin 2021) dating from AD 1645 - 1750. Onlt the upper left corner of the mount survives. The centre of the plate is a facing cherub / putti's head, and the corner of the mount is formed from a scroll. One incomplete integral attachment rivet survives on the reverse. The remaining portion is  16.2mm long, 18.5mm wide and 5.5mm tick. A fragment of a large ceramic jug handle of Medieval date, about AD 1200 - 1500. Only the top part of one handle survives with part of the upper wall of the jug. The fabric is hard, irregular and grey throughout. It has frequent poorly sorted grit and quartz inclusions as well as rounded black spots characteristic of coal measures clay. It may be Hallgate ware from Doncaster. There are splashes of dark purple brown glaze on the inner face of the vessel wall, and on the inner and outer faces of the handle. One face is flat, and the other is domed. There is a deep sub-circular hole in the centre of the domed face, but it does not perforate the object. The hole is 5.9mm diameter, and 13.5mm deep.
