An incomplete cast copper alloy Medieval double loop sub-oval buckle with separate pin strap and pin bar, c. 1350-1450 AD. The remains of the buckle consist of an oval main loop and most of the rectangular strap loop, missing less than 25%. Post medieval silver thimble (incomplete). The thimble is made of a thin sheet of silver cut to a rectangular shape. The short sides would have been soldered together creating a cylinder that tapers slightly, however the thimble is damaged and broken along this seam. Around the circumference of the base is a plain flat band followed by a raised band, followed by a wide border within which is an ornate octagonal cartouche flanked by a griffin on each side, body facing out and head facing the cartouche. Within the cartouche are the initials 'EB', probably representing the owner's initia…

An incomplete prehistoric knapped flint implement, possibly a Neolithic flint chisel (3500-2100 BC). The object has broken in a large hinge fracture approximately one-half to two-thirds of the way down the tool-end. It seems that the butt of the implement and the majority of its body is intact. The remains of the implement consist of a narrowed, thin butt-end, which still maintains a small degree of cortex; the body has been knapped carefully overall to shape into a thin oval cross-section, visible at the break. Both ventral and dorsal surfaces have symmetrical rises, unlike adzes.…

Specialist Report: I have examined two coins reported found at Dallington, East Sussex. Both are silver shillings and, although in extremely worn condition, the outline of the portrait shows them to be issues of King William III, and thus produced in the years 1694-1702. Any further details are illegible. They would be of the traditional sterling standard, 92.5% fine metal. William III's silver coinage survived in use deep into the 18th century and often became extremely worn, sometimes to the point of near total illegibility.

A silver cut voided long cross farthing of Henry III, dating to c. 1248-50 AD within the Medieval period. The type is listed as possibly Class 2B, 3B, or Class 3C and was minted in Gloucester (cf. North 1994, Vol.1, 985-988). Obverse: [hENRI]CUS; too little of the central bust remains. Reverse: [ ]UCE[ ]; the section of the cut farthing is defined by the voided long cross and three pellets in the remaining coin quadrant. It is impossible to further refine the identification of this coin to a particular type, as it is missing the rest of the coin's legend and decoration.

A cast copper alloy double loop oval buckle frame with moulded decoration, missing its pin. This buckle dates to between the mid-16th and mid-17th centuries and is identical to an example from Whitehead (2003, p63, No. 382). The buckle frame is decorated with lobed knops at two symmetrical points on each loop and at either end of the strap bar. There is no trace of an iron pin and the frame itself is bent slightly, making its length slightly shorter than that of the example listed above. It measures 34.35mm long, 21.54mm wide, 2.17mm thick, and weighs 4.05g.

Complete cast copper alloy double oval buckle frame and pin, dating to the Medieval or early Post Medieval period. One of the outside edges of the loops is slightly broadened and angled; however, it is not clear if the other loop originally matched this shape but has been lost due to damage or wear.
