A very worn copper alloy Roman coin, probably an As of Trajan, minted in Rome and dating to AD 114-117. Reverse type: Fortuna Redux; legend reads: FORT . RED . SENATUS POPULUSQUE ROMANUS. Although most of the obverse legend is illegible, the placement of the known portions have assisted in identifying this coin positively, in conjunction with the reverse type and legend. Cf. RIC III, p290, No. 652.

A contemporary copy of a silver denarius of Trajan dating to the period AD 112 to 117. SPQR OPTIMO PRINCIPI reverse type depicting Spes advancing left. Copying an issue of the mint of Rome. The coin is a hybrid. The Spes reverse type does not appear with obverses which end in TR P. Cf. RIC II, esp. Nos. 173 (c. 103-111 AD), 279 (c. 112-114 AD).
