A complete silver sixpence of Elizabeth I (1558 - 1603) dating to 1582. North Number 1997. The bust on the obverse is very unclear but is a crowned and left with a rose behind. The legend reads ELIZABETH D G ANG FR ET HIB REGINA. The reverse depicts a square shield over a long cross fourchée with 1582 above. The legend reads POSVI/DEV AD/IVTORE/M MEV. The initial mark is a bell. There is damage across the centre of the coin suggesting that the coin was folded but has now been straightened.

A silver sixpence of James I dating to the period AD 1603 to 1604. The obverse depicts a crowned bust right. The legend reads IACOBVS DG ANG SCO FR...REX. The initial mark is a Bell. The reverse depicts a crowned harp suggesting the coin is Irish. The legend readsTVEATVR VNITA DEVS which means May God guard these United (Kingdoms). A similar example is recorded in 'Coincraft's standard catalogue of the coins of Scotland, Ireland, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man' on page 203.
