A complete silver penny of John (1199 to 1216) dating to the period 1209 to 1217. North Number 975/2. The obverse depicts a forward facing, crowned bust holding a sceptre, left. There are two curls either side of the face, each containing a single pellet. The legend reads HENRICVS REX with the sceptre separating the R from the EX in REX. The reverse depicts a voided shortcross with four pellets forming a cross pommée in each angle. The initial mark is a cross pattée and the legend reads ILGER ON LVNDE with a single pellet between each word.

A complete silver short cross penny of John (AD 1199 to AD 1216) dating to the period AD 1205 to AD 1207. North Number 970. The obverse depicts a forward facing crowned bust holding a sceptre left. Most of the legend has been worn away however, the few letters which are visible suggest the legend read HENRICVS REX. The reverse depicts a voided short cross with a quatrefoil in each angle. The legend is partially worn away but it is still possible to read .... D . ON . EI. The style of the lettering suggests that the moneyer is Renaud and the coin was minted at York.
