It is likely that the object is incomplete and so would have been circular with a central perforation. There is stamped lettering visible and it reads DURHAM beneath a possible crown and on the opposite side, No. 9.

A complete lead bulla of Pope Gregory IX, 1227-1241. The obverse contains the legend GREGORIVS PP VIIII across three lines with a border of pellets although most of this has worn away. The PP stands for Pastor Pastorum or 'Shepherd of Shepherds. The reverse depicts two busts facing forward with a crucifix between them. They are individually bordered by a line of pellets. Above the two busts are the letters SPA SPE which stands for Sanctus Paulus and Sanctus Petrus or St. Paul and St. Peter. St. Paul is on the left with a long beard and St. Peter is on the right and has hair …

A complete copper alloy styca of Aethelred II dating to his first reign AD 840-844. The obverse depicts a central cross surrounded by the legend ETHILRED REX referring to Aethelred II, king of Northumbria. The initial mark is also a cross and the legend is surrounded by a line of pellets although much of this has been worn away. The reverse depicts five pellets in the centre which form a cross shape. This is surrounded by the legend which reads EANRED who was the moneyer. The initial mark is again a cross.

A complete lead alloy spindle whorl probably dating to the medieval period, c. 1100-1500. The spindle whorl is circular in plan and biconvex in profile. Each side is decorated with a series of lines with either dots or hearts in each section although this decoration has worn away significantly. Spindle whorls such as this one were in use from the Roman period through to the post-medieval although many have been excavated from medieval contexts.

The reverse depicts a voided short cross with a quartrefoil in each quarter. Much of the legend has been obscured however it is possible to discern the letter OW after a cross pattee initial mark. This suggests the moneyer was Owein of Oxford.
