A complete copper alloy annular brooch or buckle dating to the medieval period, c. AD 1250 to 1400. The brooch has a circular frame which is not decorated/ The pin is still attached and is made of a copper alloy wire which has a circular diameter and tapers to a point. The wire curves round to form a loop which attaches it to the frame. No constriction for the pin is present which as Egan and Pritchard (p.64-65) state "is generally an indication of a brooch rather than a buckle" therefore suggesting this example is a buckle.

A copper alloy buckle dating to the period c. AD 1525 to 1600. The buckle is double looped with one loop D-shaped off the central bar and the other loop trapezoidal. The frame is D-shaped in section with faceted edges. There is cast decoration on the trapezoidal loop in the form of grooves. There is one small knop projecting from the D-shaped loop and some damage suggests there would have been a second knop. There is some iron corrosion on the central bar and this could suggest that the pin was originally made of iron. This buckle is a Marshall (1986: 13 - 14) Tudor type IIB.

A complete copper alloy shoe buckle dating to the period AD 1660 to 1720. The object is sub-rectangular in plan with slightly concave long sides. There is some decoration on the sides of the buckle however the surface is quite worn so it is difficult to see. The single tongue, pin and stud chape are all still present although no longer attached to the buckle. This buckle is a Marshall (1986: 17-18) type V buckle and due to the large size and curve was probably used as a shoe buckle.

A copper alloy shoe buckle of post medieval date, c. 1720 to 1760. The buckle is rectangular in plan with rounded corners and a thickening along the long sides. This thickening is where the spindle and tongue of the buckle would have been attached however they are no longer present. The buckle is undecorated and would have been the lower end of the market. A copper alloy post medieval buckle in three parts and dating to the period AD 1730 to 1760. The buckle is rectangular in plan with rounded corners. The front of the buckle is decorated with cast incised lines over the corners and parts of the long sides. There are simple flower designs on the long sides next to the corners. In the middle of each of the long sides there is evidence for iron corrosion and it seems likely that this is where the spindle would have been attached to the frame. Marshall dates buckles of this type to the period 1730 to 1760 as after this point the buc…

Part of a copper alloy medieval buckle frame dating to the period 1250 to 1350. The frame is sub-rectangular in plan with bulging shorter sides. One of the long sides is very thin and this is where the tongue would have been attached although this is now missing. The opposing side is much wider and is rectangular with the shorter sides attached at the corners along one long side. There is some evidence for an indented tongue rest. This is a Marshall type IB who argues that they are relatively common during the medieval period.
