A lead conical weight.
The object is conical in shape with a circular base with a diameter of 26.77 mm. The object is 35.61 mm in height and tapers towards the top before rounding. The sides of the object are undecorated although there are some cut marks. On the flat base of the object, there is a central crude ring and dot motif and a series of later linear cut marks.

A complete lead spindle whorl probably dating to the medieval or early post medieval period, c. AD 1300 to 1600 .
The object is circular in plan and biconvex with a circular perforation. Both faces are decorated, one with outward radiating raised lines and dots. The other face is more worn but appears to have similar decoration with the lines possibly forming triangles to contain the dots. There is a cut mark on the least worn face near the outer edge. Spindle whorls were in use from the Iron Age through to the post medieval period and are difficult to date due to their functional…
