A slightly damaged and very worn penny, possibly of Edward III dating to the period AD 1327 to 1377. The obverse depicts a forward facing crowned bust surrounded by the legend which reads EDWARDVS REX A... The reverse depicts a long cross with three pellets in each angle and a quatrefoil in the centre. Much of the reverse legend is illegible although it is possible to read one quarter which reads .../TAS/... It is possible that this coin was produced by the mint at York.
