A copper alloy mount, probably of medieval or post-medieval date, c. AD 1400 to 1700. The object is sub-circular in plan with some irregular breaks however these have a patina consistent with the rest of the object which suggests that they are not recent. On the front of the object has a sub-circular knop. The object has a concave reverse which is undecorated however there is some ferrous corrosion from the knop on the front but may also have been the means of attaching the mount to a a larger object. There is a similar object recorded on the PAS database, see LANCUM-64D34F.

A copper alloy mount, possibly dating to the medieval period, c. AD 1200 to 1500. The object has a sub-rectangular shaft with a spherical knop at one end. There is a small circular hole throough the shaft. At the opposite end to the knop is an irregular lozenge-shaped terminal with three concentric lozenge shapes and a hole in centre. The lozenge is slightly concave. The holes through the object suggest a means of attachment but it is unclear what the object was used for.

An incomplete gold mount, possibly of medieval date (AD 1350-1550). The mount is a slightly convex sexfoil in the form of a flower with six petals and circular recessed centre. Each of the "petals" has a hammered pellet at each side and a central incised linear decoration which creates the impression of foliage .The reverse of the mount is slightly concave with a recessed aspect centrally which is the result of a broken projection/spur which would have been used to affix the mount to clothing. A similar example is illustrated in Egan, Dress Accessories, 2002, P 243, no 1297.

A silver letter M, most likely a pin or badge of Medieval date (AD 1300-1500). The object is flat with no surface decoration, there are some minor notched incisions to the front surface of the object, these however do not appear to constitute a decorative pattern. Its form is Lombardic and the letter itself is ornate and a typical Medieval style with slanting serifs at each angle of the letter. The reverse is flat and undecorated, with a horizontal band (6.56mm wide) of solder across the centre which terminates in an old break. Such objects were popular during the Medieval period a…

A copper alloy mount dating to the medieval period, c. AD 1150 to 1250. The object is anthropomorphic in design with a sub-rectangular (in plan) three dimensional head. There are some facial features including two circular holes for eyes and a long, bulbous nose. There is a frame around the face, possible representing hair or a head dress. The head then tapers to form a neck before widening and flattening to shoulders and a sub-rectangular body. There are two rivet holes which would have attached the mount to a reliquary box or cross. The figure appears cloaked and this effect i…

A copper alloy mount probably dating to the medieval period. The object is circular in plan with a narrow frame. Within the frame is a bird which is looking back on itself with feathers ruffled. The effect created by the openwork means that the bird appears in silhouette. There is not obvious means of attachment perhaps suggesting suspension from an organic strap or perhaps the projection for a mount has simply worn away. There is a similar object on the PAS database, see record PUBLIC-407C04.

A copper-alloy mount dating to the medieval period, c. AD 1300 to 1450. The mount is lozenge shaped in plan with a double border running all the way around the edge of the mount. There is raised detailing on the front of the mount however this is very worn and so it is difficult to see what it is meant to be. The back of the mount is undecorated although there is a circular depression which contains the stud in the centre. Lozenge shaped mounts are listed in Egan and Pritchard. Number 1077 is also copper alloy, has raised decoration and has been dated to the period c. 1270 to 135…

An incomplete copper alloy cinquefoil mount of medieval date. The face of the mount has a cinquefoil design where incised lines are used to define the petals. There is an annulet in the centre creating a floral effect. There is no decoration on the reverse but there is evidence for two rivets. One has broken off but it is possible to see where it was attached to the plate. The other is intact and curves outwards. Both rivets are circular in section. There are examples of cinquefoil mounts in Egan and Pritchard (1991: 186) however these are much more ornate than this example. T…

Medieval copper alloy mount measuring 54.22mm in length, 40.57mm in width, 10.49mm in thickness and weighing 53.3g. The object is sub-circular in plan with a approx. 10mm shaft extending outwards before ending in an old breakage point. The object is slighting curved in profile, with the peak of the curve being the middle of the round section, which is also the thickest. The convex surface of the fixture is very rough, while the concave side is much smoother although it has a number of light scratches on its surface. The mount may be a vessel escutcheon, with the concave face a l…
