A solid copper alloy strap fitting, probably a strap slide or toggle of Roman date, AD 43 - 410. It is circular with a convex or domed front surrounded by a groove and then a raised rim. There is a narrow groove around the side, towards the back. The back is flat with an integral sub-rectangular tab projecting, perforated by an oval hole.
The measurements are; diameter 14.9mm, thickness 13.3mm, and weight 6.27g.

An incomplete, copper alloy Roman brooch of the Colchester one-piece type, dating from AD 25 - 60. It has a plain, undecorated bow of oval cross-section. The bow is strongly curved (through post depositional damage?) and there are two narrow, rectangular wings. There is a complete forward hook, but the spring and pin are missing, as is the catchplate. The measurements are; length 35.7mm, width 9.2mm, thickness 25.4mm, and weight 3.16g.

An incomplete, copper alloy Roman brooch of the Colchester one-piece type, dating from AD 25 - 60. It has a plain, curved, undecorated bow of oval cross-section, tapering to a point at the foot. The wings are flat and rectangular. Some of the spring survives, with three turns remaining on one side, and one on the other, and there is an external chord held under a forward hook. A lead pot mend and a fragment of the ceramic vessel, of probable Roman date, AD 43 - 410. The mend is two discs of lead, one large and oval and one smaller and nearly square. They are joined by a short stem (making the mend H shaped in cross-section) through a hole in the ceramic vessel. Some of the ceramic fabric survives. It appears to be a greyware with frequent quartz inclusions, suggesting a Roman date.
Measurements are; length 28.3mm, width 24.2mm, thickness 9.9mm and weight 22.87g.

An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman brooch, a hinged heastud type, dating from around AD 100 - 225. It is of Mackreth Headstud group 8b. The brooch consists of a small tubular case on the back of the wings for a copper alloy axis bar and hinged copper alloy pin which is missing apart from the top. The mechanism is masked by short wings with enamelled lattice in red and white on their front. There is a crest or pseudo forward hook on the top of the bow. A stone possible gaming piece of possible Roman date, AD 43 - 410. The object is formed from a very smooth circular pebble, identified by the finder as Cornish greenstone. The pebble has two shallowly convex faces and rounded sides. It would have functioned well as a counter or gaming piece. It may have been naturally formed but collected for use as a playing piece. Measurements are; diameter 24.3mm, thickness 7.5mm and weight 6.74g.
The stone is dark brown, fine grained and smooth, but with a slightly pitted surface under magnification. There appears to be a high quartz content.…

A rim sherd of a ceramic vessel, probably Black Burnished ware of Roman date, AD 43 - 410. It is a rim sherd from a bowl with a dropped flange.
The fabric is relatively fine grained, hard and dark grey throughout. It has a very dark grey slip on the exterior surface although the interior has been left plain and coarse. There are sub-rounded to sub-angular translucent quartz inclusions. The flange is dropped below the pointed rim.

A complete copper-alloy probable so-called 'chess piece' style furniture fitting or mount dating to the Roman period, about AD 43-410.
It takes the form of a chess pawn, with a prominently knopped head with a collar below, and a conical base. The bottom surface is oval and flat. Projecting from the base is an integrally cast short copper-alloy shank with a perforation through it. The hole is 2.2mm diameter. The mount is a mid green colour with a smooth patina. It is 31.2mm long, 20.6mm wide and 17.1mm thick. It weighs 17.6g.

A cast lead spindle whorl of possible Roman date, AD 43 - 410. Is has one flat and one domed face making it Walton Rogers form A1. The central hole has a diameter of 4.9mm. It has a cream coloured patina. It is 23.4mm in diameter and 8.1mm high. It weighs 20.5g.
Form A1 whorls are usually dated by Walton Rogers to AD 500 - 1000, but they also appear in the Roman period (Walton Rogers, 2007, page 25). A copper alloy disc brooch, probably Roman and a British plate brooch dating from AD 150- 250. It is also possibly an Early Medieval applied saucer brooch, but it is smaller than most examples, and from an area of mainly Roman finds.
