A copper alloy Roman coin; probably an As which is very worn. Asses were issued from 23BC - 260 AD. A bust facing right can be seen on the obverse, possibly of Domitian (81 - 96), and a seated figure on the reverse which is possibly Annona or one of two captives. The legends are illegible. The coin has a diameter of 27mm and is 2.7mm thick. It weighs 6.5g.

A copper alloy Roman coin; an As of Domitian (81 - 96) as Augustus. The coin was probably minted in AD 86 or 90 - 91 at Rome, MONETA AVGVST/I. Moneta is shown on the reverse with scales and a cornucopia. The coin has a diameter of approximately 27mm. RIC II (1st ed), 395; RIC II (2nd ed), cf. nos. 492-3 and 708; Sear's "Roman Coins and their Values" volume 1, number 2807. The coin appears to have COS XV, but it could be COS XII.

Obverse shows Laureate head right. Obverse legend reads IMP CAES VESP AVG P M. Compare FAPJW-3A4CE2 and CAM-FE85F1" href="http://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/525508">CAM-FE85F1. There is a an unusual lump of metal on Vespasian's jawline; a projecting rounded pellet.
