SALVS PVBLICA reverse type depicting Salus, draped, seated left on throne, feeding out of patera in right hand snake coiled round altar and resting left arm on side of throne. cf. RIC IV.2, p. 84, no. 178d for the probable reverse type. The coin is 17.4mm diameter, 2.4mm thick and 3.48g in weight. PROVIDENTIA AVG reverse type depicting Providentia standing left holding corn ears over modius(?) and anchor? This is a contemporary copy or hybrid combining types of Julia Mamaea and probably those of Severus Alexander. Prototype of the mint of Rome. Cf. BMC VI, p. 212, no. 1002 for a similar hybrid example. It is 18.8mm in diameter and 2.1mm thick. It weighs 2.36gm.

Because the coin is incomplete, it is not possible to determine it the coin is from the AD 235 or AD 236 issue. About a fifth of the flan is missing, but the coin is otherwise in good condition and is very clear.

A Roman coin; a contemporary copy of a denarius of Severus Alexander (AD 222-235). The coin is made of copper alloy and silvered. The silver coating is wearing off in places. There is a small chip from the flan at 11 o'clock on the obverse. It is 19.6mm in diameter and 1.9mm thick. It weighs 1.92gm. The coin is a copy of a denarius of Severus Alexander dating from AD 230, showing Sol on the reverse. Cf Sear Volume II number 7910. Compare also to YORYM-3E3D32. The coin seems a little odd, and it is unusually shiny, so it is possible that it is a modern forgery.
