A copper alloy terret ring which dates from the Iron Age or Early Roman period. The terret is complete at 60.1mm long, 57.6mm wide and 16.8mm thick. The hoop is oval in section giving the hoop two faces, and the bar is expanded in the same plane as the oval into a flat, sub-triangular plate. There is a projecting discoid stop with a groove round the edge at each end of the bar, between the bar and the hoop. The bar is 25.6mm long. The hoop is decorated with five ring and dot motifs executed in recessed cells filled with enamel that now appears red in colour. The same design is on both …

Part of a copper alloy circular brooch which is Early Medieval in date. The brooch is a flat disc with a raised ropework rim. The front of the disc and the rim is gilt. It is broken and the surviving fragment is 18.3mm long, 12.9mm wide and 5.8mm thick. There is a hole in the centre of the disc through which fits a small copper alloy and undecorated rivet which has also survived. The reverse of the disc is plain copper alloy with a dark brown patina. A double pin lug survives but not the pin. The brooch probably dates from the Early Anglo-Saxon period.

A copper alloy thimble which dates from the fifteenth century. The thimble is domed. There is an incised groove round the base, and the sides and top are covered with handmade pits. They are arranged in vertical rows round the lower half of the thimble and irregularly on the upper half and top. The thimble is 21.8mm high and has a diameter of 20.5mm. The walls are 1.5mm thick. It is solid and is in good condition with a patina that ranges from dark to light green. Further examples can be seen on page 17 of “The Collector’s Guide to Thimbles” by Bridget McConnel.

It is grey in colour, with some light tan coloured areas. One piece is glazed with splashes of an iron based, yellowish glaze. There are three base sherds and two rim sherds from a variety of vessels.

A glass bead which is possibly Roman. The bead is annular and is D shaped in section with a circular hole in the centre. On one face the centre is depressed, but the other face is flat. A short spur projects from one edge of the bead. The glass contains faint lines that radiate from the spur as if the glass was pulled up to form it, or was poured down from it. A copper alloy penannular brooch which is probably Iron Age or Roman in date. The brooch is circular in section and has rounded terminals with flat ends and a collar. It is slightly bent so is no longer round in plan. It is 33.2mm long, 24.1mm wide and 5.5mm thick. It is probably Fowler type A3 (“The Origins and Development of the Penannular Brooch in Europe” in The Prehistoric Society, 1960). The pin is missing. The brooch has a smooth mid green patina.

A flint end scraper which is probably Neolithic. It may have been formed on a larger previously used scraper. The flint is invasively worked and has retouch on both sides and the distal end, but there is more retouch and also use wear on the distal end. It is unusually small at just 17.9mm long, 12.6mm wide and 6.5mm thick. The flint is high quality and is glossy and mid brown in colour.

A cast copper alloy spherical bell with a ferrous striker. The bell is 36.2mm long and has a diameter of 27.5mm. It has a square suspension loop at the top, with a rounded hole through it. The bell has a thickened median rib. There are two circular sound holes in the upper half. There are two sound holes joined by a slit in the lower half. There is some damage to one lower sound hole. The striker is still functional. There is no decoration on the bell. It has a mottled dark brown and green patina. The bell is post medieval and probably dates from the sixteenth century.
