An incomplete cast white metal whistle of late post-medieval date, about AD 1700 - 1900. Only the closed end of the whistle survives. It is domed with a raised collar round the end where it joined the tubular part of the whistle. A cylindrical shaft extends from the closed end, terminating is a globular knop perforated for attachment. Casting flashes are present around the outer edge of the object. The object is 30.6mm long, 18.1mm wide, 10.0mm thick and weighs 5.00g. Compare NLM-7C1850, CORN-8F2B73 and YORYM-43B6B5.

An incomplete lead alloy whistle, perhaps for hunting, of early modern date about AD 1800-1900 and cast in the form of a dog's head. The inside of the head is hollow. Moulding seams are on the centre top and underside of the head. The dog has prominent eyes, large flat ears, and mouth in a growling position around a moulded hole, probably a suspension loop. The metal is corroded. Measurements are; length 26.9mm, width (across the ears) 11.7mm, thickness 11.9mm and weight 6.04g. An incomplete Medieval to Post Medieval lead alloy probable whistle dating from AD 1400-1700. Only one end of a tube survives, probably the mouthpiece of a bosun's (boatswain's) style whistle. The terminal of the tube has a rounded corner between the sides and the end of the tube, and a hole in the end which is smaller in diameter at 4.7mm than the diameter of the tube (10.7mm). An incomplete silver post medieval whistle dating from about AD 1500 - 1650. The tubular whistle is made of silver sheet and soldered lengthways along an abutting seam. A collar of spiralled silver wire divides the whistle into two sections. Comparison with more complete examples suggests there would have been a second wound wire collar and third section, now missing. A lead alloy whistle of post medieval or early modern date (AD 1650 - 1900) although probably 19th century. The whistle is hollow and tubular, circular in cross-section. The whistle has a knop at the closed end, pierced for attachment to a string. There is a long-neck of circular section, with a projecting collar near the oval rounded knop. An incomplete post medieval lead alloy whistle dating from AD 1700 - 1900. The whistle is cylindrical with a half cylindrical mouthpiece. Only the mouthpiece end of the whistle survives. There is a crescent-shaped sound hole at the point where the mouthpiece narrows. The cylindrical part of the tube is decorated with an abstract curvilinear design in relief lines. There are obvious casting seams along the sides of the tube. The rest of the whistle is missing so it is not known what form it took. An incomplete post medieval lead alloy whistle, probably dating from the 15th-16th century, but possibly later. Only part of the tube survives. It is circular in section and has a rectangular slot along one face. The sides are decorated with moulded patterns; transverse lines and ladder patterns are visible. Projecting form the face opposite the slot are the remains of moulded decoration and a round suspension loop. A fragment of a cast lead alloy whistle in the form of a fish, probably dating from the 19th century. The object is hollow and comprises the rear part of the fish; there is a collar around the edge of the hollow at the head end. The head which contained the mouthpeice is missing. The fish is carefully detailed with scales and fins. The tip of the tail is also missing. Compare SUR-8574C1 which is a complete example, and SUR-BEBF41. The object is 27.86mm long, 15.4mm wide and 7.3mm thick. It weighs 4.6g.

A cast lead alloy (pewter?) whistle in the form of a pipe bowl, dating from 1750 -1900. The bowl is sub-conical with a pattern of raised dots on the lower half of the bowl. A raised line in a scallop pattern defines the lower half of the bowl, and above the line is a single row of raised dots and then plain metal to the rim. The pipe stem is missing although there is a cylindrical projection with a terminal rim projecting from the base of bowl where the stem would have fitted. An incomplete silver whistle made from silver sheet, somewhat flattened at one end. The mouthpiece is intact, shaped for blowing, being D shaped in section with a separate piece fixed underneath producing a curved underside expanding to a circular sectioned tube. There is a sound slit half way along the top of the whistle. This is distorted but relatively undamaged. There are the remains of a maker's mark just above slit between it and the mouthpiece. A copper alloy musical instrument; a whistle or other similar pipe like instrument. The whistle is made from a cast tube of copper alloy. Towards one terminal is a semi-circular hole which is obliquely angled in profile to provide a lip which would give the whistle's sound. Half way between this end and the broken end is an incised line round the pipe, presumably decorative. The far end is broken, and there is damage on the lower part of the pipe. Silver decorative whistle, spherical body or buoy made of two parts of silver sheet soldered together with a raised rib. Each hemisphere decorated with raised flower-head pattern and central knop. It is cast and there are projecting blobs along the casting spur. The bowl is long and oval and sits relatively vertically. There is a short rounded spur on the heel instead of a flat platform which suggests a date later than 1600 (Ayto, 2002, Shire Album 37: Clay tobacco pipes). The stem has broken off.
