There is a central recessed circle and a circular groove round it. There is no raised rim. The reverse is marked with curved inclised lines. The weight is 14.1mm in diameter, 2.6mm thick and weighs 2.71g. The mass does not fit obviously into any standard ssystem of weighing. The object may be filed down, or is possibly intended to be a 1/8th ounce weight (3.5g). It might be the flat circular weight from the top of a nest of&nb…

There are also fresher counterstamps: three crowns, smaller than the original, and a group of letters, perhaps reading [-]TCH. This weight would have been a half ounce weight in the Imperial system. A copper alloy cup weight, meant to have been a 1oz weight. However, it weighs 0.885oz. 1oz bullion cup weights should be equivalent to 20dwt and have a mass of 31.1g. Instead it translates to 25.11g. Therefore, it was probably intended to be a 1ox weight in the avoirdupois system. Cup weights were widely used from the 17th century onwards, giving this one a probable Post Medieval date ('Bullion Weights', by Norman Biggs). It measures 27.4mm diameter and 12.4mm tall. There are no visible marks or symbols. The sides are angled and the rim is square.

A circular, copper alloy weight of probable Post Medieval date, about AD 1500 - 1900. It is a circular weight with a concave upper face, a small hoel through the centre and concentric rings on the upper face. It is stamped with a thistle at 12o'clock and a fleur at 6o'clock. It has a dark green patina. It is 22.5mm in diameter and 2.7mm thick. It weighs 5.85gm. At 90 grains, this may be a 1 and a half drachm weight, but it does not look like any examples in Biggs (1994) Apothecaries Weights.

A probable Anglo-Scandinavian copper-alloy weight dating from the ninth or tenth century. The weight is in the shape of a cube with the corners cut off, so that six of the sides are square and the other eight are triangular. The faces are corroded and rough, with little original patina surviving, the metal now having a brown colour with brassy patches. Post Medieval to Modern coat hooks are also known which have polyhedral heads, very similar to the Anglo-Scandinavian weights (YORYM-8275D2 for example). This example does not appear to have an breaks where the shaft of the hook woul…

It is 21.95mm in diameter by 3.05mm thick and weighs 5.15 grams, 0.181 oz. It was probably originally a quarter of an ounce with some weight lost to corrosion. It is stamped with: Crowned EL (for Elizabeth) at 6 o'clock; the sword of St Paul (for London) at 5 o'clock and an inverted ewer (for the founders company) at 11 o'clock. This type was issued from 1590 to 1603 AD.

A Post-medieval copper alloy stacking pan weight, probably intended to be a 1/4 ounce weight. It is 18.5mm in diameter, 4.46mm in thickness and weighs 5.53g (85.2gn; 0.19oz). The weight is very worn and apart from a circle on the top face, the marks are illegible. There looks to have been a word stamped round part of the edge of the circle. Without being able to see the marks, it is impossible to closely date this weight, but it is probably 18th or 19th century.
