A piece of glass probably from a vessel handle of possible Roman date, AD 43 - 410. It is a very dark blue semi-translucent curved solid piece of glass with one end being an irregular break and the opposite end showing signs of a possible fixing to the body of a vessel. The surface is very smooth and shows no wear, only very few scratches and no oxidisation. The attachment end is circular and is 21.7mm diameter. The face is slightly concave. It then tapers and bends away into a D-shaped cross-section, 11.3mm wide and 7.6mm thick at the break. Length is 43.1mm and weight 11.88g.

A fragment of a copper alloy vessel of Post-Medieval date, about AD 1650 - 1850. The fragment is the leg of a cooking vessel such as a skillet. The leg is shield shaped in plan and D-shaped in cross-section expanding towards the top where it would have joined with the vessel proper. It is undecorated and tapers to a thin point at the base.
The metal has a dark black/green patina and has patches of iron corrosion. The fragment height is 57mm, 36mm wide, 18mm thick and weighs 36g.
These objects are very common metal detector finds and are often found heavily worn and pitted as…

A fragment of a probable copper alloy pot leg from a Medieval cauldron or cooking pot, probably dating from the Medieval or early post-Medieval period, about AD 1200 - 1600. The fragment only has one complete edge. It is roughly trapezoidal in plan, but the complete edge is slightly concave and the edge is rounded. One face is flat and sooted, and the other has a ridge parallel to the original edge, but near the broken edge opposite. This face was probably originally fluted. This fragment could also be a handle rather than a leg. It is 33.7mm long, 35.3mm wide and 8.7mm thick. 39.1g. …

The broken end is narrower and it flares to the complete end which terminates in a circular loop which is at right angles to the plane of the body. The flat reverse has iron corrosion on it, and the remains of an iron rivet is suspected. The mount is 40.2mm long, 11mm wide and 13.1mm thick. 12.7g. Three sherds of Medieval ceramic vessels dating from AD 1200 - 1500. There is one rim sherd and two wall shards of what appears to be the same fabric.
The fabric is dark grey throughout with a purple glaze on the outer face. The rim sherd also has a grey green glaze on the inner face. The fabric is hard, fine and has frequent well-sorted inclusions of angular grey grit and rounded black particles (iron ore?). The inclusions break the surface. The rim is only slightly everted but is thickened.

A fragment of a ceramic vessel of uncertain date, Roman to Modern, AD 43 - 1900. The shard is an unusual shape and damaged, but appears to be part of the rim and shoulder from a narrow necked vessel with a rounded body. The fabric is orange and hard, with a irregular texture and sparse inclusions of quartz and grit. At first glance the fragment looks like the edge of a tegula or tile, but there are sufficient curves to rule this out. The fragment is 39.7mm tall, 61.7mm wide and 20mm thick. 76.2g.

1. Rim sherd. Hard, fine textured pink/red fabric with sparse, small, well sorted inclusions which are angular and grey grit and rounded black particles. There is a glossy brown glaze on both faces. The clay is folded over to create the rim, and there is a void between the two layers which is filled with glaze. The changing shape of the rim may suggest the sherd is from near a spout. There is a stacking scar on the top of the rim. The sherd is 44.2mm long, 51.2mm wide …
