A copper alloy ring thimble dating from the Post Medieval period, about AD 1550 - 1600. It is an open thimble with a pair of ridges forming a border top and bottom. There is no visible seam. The pits are circular and neatly executed in a spiral that runs up to the right in 7 rows. There is possibly a maker's mark at the start of the spiral but it is too worn to be certain it is not a larger pit. The thimble has a smooth green patina. It is 17.5mm tall, 20.6mm diameter and 5.6g. See https://finds.org.uk/counties/findsrecordingguides/textile-equipment/#Medieval_ring-type_thimbles.

A Post Medieval copper alloy thimble dating from AD 1520 - 1620. It has a shallow domed top, angled sides and a plain band round the rim. The pits are arranged in a spiral that goes up to the right. The pits are D shaped to circular. Below the start of the spiral is a maker's mark of two punched chevrons, each formed of two oval punches, looking rather like a head of wheat. There does not appear to be a close match for the maker's mark in Read (2018) but number 169 is a similar idea. The thimble is slightly distorted on one side, but measuring over the original diame…

A crudely cast, lead palm guard, probably dating from the 17th-20th century (about AD 1600 - AD 1950). It is a rounded oval, D-shaped with a concave "straight" edge and is flat, except for a raised edge along the stem of the D. The underside has two small circular depressions near the centre. These are believed to have been used to push a needle through a tough material. Leather workers' palm guards are discussed in an article in Gordon Bailey's 'Detector Finds 2', 1993, pages 64-5. Dating of these artefacts is very difficult; the earliest examples seem to date from the 17th century, …
