A silver fitting from a cane, parasol or scent bottle dating from the late eighteenth or nineteenth century. The fitting is a band of sheet silver joined into a loop with a butt joint. The loop is tapered so it is wider at the base than at the top. The band is decorated with a stamped design consisting of several elements. There is a border of flowers and leaves round the base and a rope-work border round the top. The area between has a dimpled background and springs of flowers and foliage in relief.
