A copper alloy lid, probably from a post medieval inkwell or similar vessel. The lid is undecorated. It has a very robust double lug hinge. The lid itself is sub-circular, one side being straight. The hinge lugs are separated from the circular lid by a triangular thickened area. The edge of one of the lugs is in line with the straight side of the lid. This is intentional, not damage, and may have been to allow a second lid to sit next to the first, maybe on a double ink well.
