A probable plated silver contemporary copy of a denarius of Caracalla (AD 198 - 217), (Reece period 10). MONETA AVG reverse type depicting Moneta holding scales and cornucopiae. As with many Severan copies, the reverse is of another issue or ruler. In this case a later coin of Caracalla (dating to AD 210-3) did have this reverse type (RIC IV, pt 1, p. 244, no. 224), but has the obverse legend ANTONINVS PIVS AVG BRIT with Caracalla laureate and draped right. The obverse type of this coin {ANTONINVS PIVS AVG], however, is earlier, probably dating to AD 201-210 (RIC IV, pt 1, p. 230ff.) …

The coin was found trapped within and fused to a Roman strap mounted terret which is recorded as SWYOR-068F9E. The coin is 17.7mm diameter and 1.1mm thick. Weight unknown. Combined weight with terret is 23.18g.

The reverse reads RECTOR ORBIS and depicts Caracalla naked, facing forward, head left, holding globe and resting on a spear. Mint of Rome. See Sear number 6880 on page 526 of Volume II, and RIC number 39a. The coin is 18.6mm diameter, 1.9mm thick and 1.93g.

However, it is possible that it is a contemporary copy. It has a diameter of 18.99mm, thickness 1.93mm and a weight of 1.99g.
