Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A copper alloy possible bead of uncertain date. The bead is sub circular in plan and D shaped in cross section with a flat inner side and convex outer side; the sides are irregular in thickness and width. A crack across one side indicates where two ends of a rod were hammered around and butted together to form the bead. There is a very fine incised pair of lines round the centre of the bead. It is sub rectangular and irregular on one face where it was in contact with the ground, and rounded on the other face which was exposed to the air. It has an intermittent grey patina. This waste material is impossible to date, but is recorded as a potential indicator of metal working.

Object type: CUFF LINK
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: North Yorkshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A silver disc or single cuff link element from a pair of Post Medieval cuff links. The disc is octagonal and broken with the edge missing round one quarter. Octagonal cuff links are normally dated to the 18th century, and cannot be firmly dated to before or after 1711. For this reason they are usually not considered as Treasure. This example has an incised octagonal border with concave sides, surrounding a flower with rounded petals. On the reverse (which is hollow) is the remains of a broken attachment loop.
