A silver post Medieval pierced coin; a half groat of Charles I, (AD 1625-1649) struck 1631-1639.  North Group D, probably number 2257. Initial mark probably bell. Tower mint. The coin has a circular hole punched from the obverse, near the edge at 9o'clock on the obverse. Measurements are; diameter 16.6mm, thickness 0.8mm and weight 0.93g.

A pierced Post Medieval silver coin; a half groat of Charles I (AD 1625 - 1649), Group A, cross calvary initial mark dating from AD 1625 - 1626. Tower mint. See North number 2248 on page 161 of North Volume 2 (1991). The coin is 16.36mm diameter, and weighs 0.83g. The coin is perforated at about 10o'clock on the obverse, just inside the legend. The hole was probably made from the reverse, but there appears to be displaced metal on both faces.
